This coffee is produced in two coffee growers' cooperatives, bringing together more than 240 families from the NASA WE'SX community, in the Planadas and Gaitania terroirs. Each farmer owns approximately 2 to 4 hectares. These terroirs are protected lands for these indigenous peoples, and there are more than 6,000 trees per hectare.
This coffee was decaffeinated at the Decaf factory located in Manizales, Colombia, to apply theSugar Cane Decaf process. This decaffeination process involves extracting caffeine using ethyl acetate, which comes from sugar cane.
Good to knowThe coffee is certified organic before decaffeination. However, because the sugarcane that provides the ethyl acetate is not certified organic, further certification cannot be obtained. Laboratory tests have been conducted and no traces of pesticides have been found.
