The Hybrid method uses the wet polishing process, where the beans are lightly moistened and then stirred so that friction removes hulling residue and silver film, leaving them clean, shiny, and more consistent for roasting.
The steps followed for the special preparation of natural robusta coffee are as follows:
- Naturally graded robusta coffee (e.g. AA, A, AB) is graded according to its defect content; only coffees with less than 25 defects are selected for this preparation.
- The selected lots undergo a double cup assessment, and only those without any stray note are retained for special treatment.
- These lots go through apre-cleaner and a destonerin order to remove any stones and foreign matter.
- The cafes are then water-polished The resulting coffee, similar in tone to washed robusta, is then sorted by optical selector to remove partially black or brown grains.
- Finally, the cafes are rated in cupThen packed for export.
