Located about 200 km north of Cape Town, the magnificent Cederberg Mountains are home to rooibos (rooi = red and bos = bush in Afrikaans). It is the only region in the world where it grows, so it is not surprising to learn that it is the national drink of South Africa.
Unlike black or green tea, rooibos tea contains no caffeine and few tannins, so there is no bitterness in the taste and you don't have to worry about sleepless nights.
Warming spices such as honeybush, cinnamon, lemon myrtle, licorice root and cloves transform cold days into very special winter moments.
Good to know...
Rooibos should be brewed with water at a temperature of 95 to 98°C (leave the water in the kettle for a short time until it stops boiling). For a perfect cup, let it steep for 6 to 8 minutes.
