Hario is a model of environmental and social responsibility. Its products are primarily made from safe and reliable materials: silica sand, borax, and boric acid. HARIO glass is heat-resistant and made from 100% natural and environmentally friendly materials.

The factory is entirely electric, has no chimney, and therefore emits no polluting gases. In fact, in 1971, the company developed a fully electric melting furnace, which powers the manufacturing process using only electricity. Furthermore, the factory is currently transitioning to LED lighting to reduce its energy consumption. To date, 70% of the factory is illuminated by LEDs.

Committed to preserving raw materials, offcuts are recycled for subsequent production runs or given to other companies for repurposing. Employee well-being is a priority. The health and safety committee works daily to provide numerous benefits to employees, such as activities for sports and relaxation, and a medical center offering aromatherapy workshops, massages, and acupuncture. Gender equality is also important: 25% of management positions are held by women.

The brand supports the charity Project Waterfall, which aims to unite consumers and the coffee industry around the project of providing access to clean water and education for coffee-growing communities around the world.
Since 2011, Project Waterfall has changed more than 50,000 lives in Nicaragua, Tanzania, Rwanda, Vietnam, Uganda, Kenya and Ethiopia.
